Person Centred Counsellor

William is an experienced person centred counsellor, he has worked with people who have had a variety of concerns including, anxiety, low self-worth, depression, bereavement, loss, Loneliness, addiction, stress, low self-esteem, problems with life and relationships. 

William believes that by offering individuals the ‘right’ conditions they will form a therapeutic relationship and in turn facilitate a positive change within themselves. Attending counselling sessions with William, individuals are encouraged to explore their difficulties with the sessions led and steered by the individual with the counsellor being there to support and facilitate. 

William offers a calm, safe, non-judgemental, empathetic, therapeutic service in a confidential space where individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings, and emotions openly, gaining a deeper understanding of themselves and finding their own solution to their issues in the process. 

Before William qualified with a BA (Hons) degree in person centred counselling, he worked for over 25 years in the care industry in mental health, general hospitals, and supported individuals with learning difficulties in the community. William spent 2 years of his training as a volunteer counsellor providing individuals with face to face and online counselling at the Colchester Institute Counselling Service and with Action for Family Carers. Having qualified as a counsellor, he worked as an addiction therapist at a treatment centre providing individual counselling as well as facilitating group therapy. 

William is passionate about helping every individual he works with through therapy, and continues to develop his thinking and understanding by attending regular training and study days. 

William holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Person Centred Counselling and is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
