Psychodynamic Counsellor and Psychotherapist
Poppy is an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist and her practice is grounded in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic thinking, recognising that our emotional lives are shaped not only by conscious experiences but also by unconscious processes and early relationships that continue to influence us. Poppy offers a calm, reflective, and containing therapeutic space where thoughts and feelings can be expressed and explored with compassion. She sees the therapeutic relationship as central to the process of change — a place where emotional experiences can be held, understood, and made sense of over time. Through this steady and collaborative work, patterns that may once have felt confusing or entrenched can begin to take shape and be understood, creating the possibility for greater emotional freedom and a deeper sense of self.
Her psychodynamic approach supports clients in exploring how past experiences and early attachments influence their present-day feelings, behaviours, and relationships. By uncovering unconscious patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress, clients can develop insight, strengthen their emotional resilience, and find new ways of relating to themselves and others.
She has experience supporting people through a broad range of issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship and attachment difficulties, bereavement, identity concerns, and adjustment to major life changes.
She strives to offer a steady, supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore their inner world and work towards lasting, meaningful change.
Poppy is committed to ethical and reflective practice and is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She holds a MA in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy.
